My daughter's very inexpensive classical guitar popped its bridge due to dryness and insufficient gluing, and when I checked the other day I noticed that Guitar Center's basic price to reglue a bridge is 150 bucks, which is more than the guitar cost, and I think another 25 or 40 bucks or something if you had to buy a new bridge.

Thanks for the advice. I've tried it and you're right: I'm pressing the strings much harder than necessary. Practice, practice, practice! Also, I've been slouched on the couch while playing and I think posture, posture, posture might be an issue too - I'm supporting the guitar, craning my neck and twisting my whole body in a rather un-musician-like manner. and yeah i have a G 120 yamaha from 72/ a G 225 from '79 / a cgx 111 CA / CG 171 S / and a C40 i keep as a braai guitar..all 5 are yamaha of course and all fabulous guitars and yeah the G range sound better tonally than even the top of the range CG171 S i have. they rich with a warm bass.. but they are slightly harder to play.
